Wizkid under fire for declaring hip-hop is dead.

Singer Wizkid has come under fire from hip hop artists for declaring that the genre is extinct.

“Y’all not even rappers, nasty C, Sarkodie, and Black Sherriff are the only rappers in Africa,” the Grammy winner tweeted on his snapchat.

His remarks drew criticism from a variety of online users, some of whom even named prominent African Hip Hop artists.

Wizkid continued by saying that he no longer listens to any other genre of music and that rap is dead and boring to him. He then compared afro beats to hip hop. According to him, rappers use the same beats and flows.

Khaligraph Jones stated on his Instagram stories, “make African rap great again, Hip Hop is alive, let me show you all,” in a subtly critical response to Wizkid. In response to this claim, Nigerian hip-hop artist Blaqbones declared, “I’m not dead, I’m attractive.” However, know that hitmaker Ladipoe declared, “I’m not dead, I’m attractive.”

One Twitter user, Daniel Regha, had a lot to say. In his rant, the influencer claimed that Wizkid appears to have forgotten that Drake, a rapper, helped him become well-known worldwide, and that Beyoncé, who is married to another rapper named Jay Z, helped him win the Grammy.

He is disparaging rappers, but he primarily relied on rap features and contacts to launch his career, said Daniel.

Some musicians have even gone so far as to create diss recordings.
