The East African Legislative Assembly candidate slate for the ODM party has been made public (EALA).
On Tuesday, the candidates who would be considered for election to EALA were nominated by the Selection Committee, which was chaired over by Deputy Party Leader Wycliffe Oparanya.
Winnie Odinga, the daughter of ODM Party leader Raila Odinga and a key player in the Azimio la Umoja campaigns building up to the August General Election, is one of the candidates.
Suleiman Shahbal, who ran for the ODM party ticket in the Mombasa Governor campaign but lost to incumbent Abdullswamad Nassir, is another well-known nominee.
Beatrice Askul, Timothy Bosire, Mohammed Diriye, and Justus Kizito are other ODM nominees.
In October, there were rumors that Odinga had applied for the EALA seat but had been rejected.
“I have not applied for Eala, and the party has not sent any formal communications. She explained that the incoming CS was just annoyed with the girl.
The list will be shortened before the House votes on November 17 even though the joint National Assembly and Senate committee on the nomination of EALA members reported receiving 287 applications on Tuesday, November 8.
Independent candidates are obliged to submit their applications by Wednesday, November 9, just like their colleagues from political parties.
