A vehicle collision involving a trailer and two matatus on Tuesday at Ngata Bridge on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway resulted in eight fatalities and 21 critical injuries.
According to police sources, the trailer that was traveling from Eldoret to Nakuru lost control and struck the two public transportation vehicles as they were approaching the Eldoret route.
The Nakuru-Eldoret Highway had considerable traffic congestion as a result of the accident.
21 patients with significant injuries have been admitted to Nakuru Level 5 Hospital, according to medical director Dr. Aisha Maina.
Witnesses have pointed the finger at a section of dangerously decayed road close to the Ngata Bridge, which has since become a hotspot for accidents.
