The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party flagbearer for the Kandara parliamentary contest has been named as Chege Njuguna.
After receiving 7,826 votes in the UDA primary held in the constituency on Saturday, Njuguna was proclaimed the victor.
On January 5, 2023, there will be a by-election in which the nominee will run against other candidates from different political parties.
Following Alice Wahome’s appointment by President William Ruto as the cabinet secretary for water and sanitation, the parliamentary seat became vacant.
Aden Duale and Kipchumba Murkomen’s cabinet appointments resulted in the MP and senator seats in Garissa Township constituency and Elgeyo Marakwet County becoming vacant. These by-elections will take place on January 5.
