TSC releases over 35,000 job openings

A total of 35,550 jobs for primary and junior secondary school teachers have been announced by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

The company claimed in a notice published on Friday that it has 9,000 permanent and pensionable positions open for secondary school teachers and an additional 1,000 for primary school instructors.

Additionally, TSC will hire 4,000 primary school interns and 21,550 junior secondary school teacher interns.

According to the TSC notification, successful candidates will be assigned to any primary or junior secondary school in the county where they underwent the interview process or in any other region of the nation where a vacancy exists.

“Successful candidates for junior secondary schools should be needed to teach several learning areas under junior secondary curriculum,” the statement continued.

TSC had earlier declared that it would give junior secondary teachers’ recruitment priority during the January mass hiring.

The education taskforce under President William Ruto recommended employing 30,000 new teachers for junior secondary schools, citing a shortage of tutors across the country.

All Grade 6 pupils who passed this month’s Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will move on to junior secondary institutions housed in current primary institutions, according to the government.
