
Police made an arrest on Saturday night after a well-known thief was positively recognized by several victims.
Police were able to find Dickson Gatonga Njeri after receiving a tip about his movements. He had been operating in the Huruma and Kariobangi districts.
The National Police Service (NPS) reported that during the search of Dickson, a kitchen knife was found.
He was then brought to a police station to wait for his arraignment.
The arrest follows a slew of others made by police in an effort to rein in the city’s escalating crime problems.
Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the interior cabinet secretary, also proclaimed a full-scale war on mugging gangs and other violent crimes in Nairobi.
In response to reported incidences of insecurity, CS Kindiki stated that the government was aware of the public uproar and was resolved to take quick action to cleanse Nairobi and other towns of criminal gangs.
In the meantime, GSU officers have been stationed in various regions of the country to subdue the gangs.
