Following a car accident at the Kaburengu intersection on the Eldoret-Webuye highway, three persons are being treated for critical injuries at the Webuye sub-county hospital in Kakamega County.
A lorry, a matatu, and a canter are alleged to have been involved in the accident, which happened Wednesday at noon.
Joashua Nyasimi, the inspector in charge of the Northern Corridor, confirmed the occurrence and claimed that the truck, which was its route to Uganda, slammed the matatu and caused the collision.
Mr. Nyasimi claims that the construction materials-carrying truck’s brakes failed near Chimoi.
After that, at Kaburengu, the driver lost control and rammed into the matatu as it was slowing down at some adjacent bumps.
He advised drivers to slow down during the rainy season because the location is renowned as a black spot and to check their brakes frequently before setting out on their excursions.
The county administration was also accused by locals for failing to build a matatu terminal for cars, which they believe has resulted in weekly accidents that kill numerous innocent lives on the road.
