
In the Tharaka Constituency of Tharaka Nithi County, a candidate taking the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams gave birth.
On Monday morning at the Marimanti Hospital, the candidate gave birth to her child before beginning the mathematics exam.
The candidate will continue to take her exam from the hospital, according to Area Education Director Salecio Maringe.
She is one of the 2,147 candidates in the Tharaka North sub-county taking the KCPE.
The KCPE and KPSEA exams, which will be taken by more than 2.5 million applicants nationwide, began on Monday morning.
On Monday, the opening of exam containers and the distribution of materials around the nation were witnessed by education authorities and Cabinet Secretaries in the chilly morning air.
