Tahmeed bus catches fire while headed to Mombasa, 41 passengers escape death by a whisker

After the bus they were travelling in caught fire along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, the passengers who were on their way to Mombasa are fortunate to still be alive.

There were only a few minor injuries, according to a Tahmeed Bus Company official, and no fatalities were reported.

The event happened early on Monday morning close to Tsavo National Park.

“There were only minor injuries, but no one died. Only one or two passengers were injured.

“Because authorities are investigating, we still don’t have additional information. Additionally, we don’t know what started the fire, the spokesperson said.

Despite the fact that authorities have started an investigation, the fire’s cause has not yet been determined.

The tragedy happened only a few months after another bus carrying 45 passengers caught fire in May 2022.

The event took place next to a gas station on the Nairobi-Kisumu Highway. A tyre burst on the bus, according to reports.

After the police initiated an investigation into the fire’s origin, all the passengers were safely evacuated.

As the bus fire quickly spread, witnesses told the media that some of the luggage on board could not be saved.
