Following an accident in the Josa region, on the Wundanyi-Mwatate route in Taita Taveta County, several people have perished.
According to reports, a school bus transporting teachers from Memon School was involved in the accident. At the time, the teachers were off from Kidaya attending a colleague’s funeral.
In part, a memo from the school’s management states, “We are unhappy to notify you of an accident that has occurred involving some of our teachers who had traveled to attend a funeral.”
Photos that have been released show that the bus was rolling multiple times when the tragedy occurred.
In part, a statement from Sikika Road Safety states, “There is a bad crash near Taita on Josa black spot involving a Memon school bus (which was carrying adults), people have lost their lives (bodies laying on the ground), rescue ongoing.”
Victims who were injured were taken to Voi hospital. The number of fatalities has not yet been established.
