Recovered: Two Additional Rifles Stolen in Break-In at Homa Bay Police Station

In the wake of a daring assault on a police station two weeks ago that resulted in the theft of four rifles and more than 100 rounds of ammunition, authorities in Homa Bay County have found two more stolen weapons.

This comes after the alleged attack planner was detained on Wednesday, at which time a G-3 rifle that was loaded with 20 rounds of ammo was also found.

The two rifles were found on Wednesday night by police personnel stationed at the Nyamasaria patrol post in Kisumu County, according to a report released by the police on Thursday. This brings the total number of seized weapons to three.

According to the authorities, the officers were on foot patrols late into the night when a mysterious motorcyclist suddenly sped up to them.

The rider is reported to have instantly made a U-turn after spotting the authorities, despite their futile attempts to remove the pillion passenger from the motorcycle.

“The pillion rider lost a large luggage during the subsequent tussle as the numberless bike accelerated into the night. The cops found two G-3 rifles, 175 7.62mm bullets, 9 7.62mm blank cartridges, one used 7.62mm cartridge, and one pair of handcuffs inside the luggage after giving it a thorough inspection “examining the police report

Further examination of the weapons, according to police, revealed that the two G-3 rifles lacking their butt stocks were among the collection of weapons taken in the attack launched against Kipasi police post in Mbita on the evening of November 16.

The search for the remaining firearm is currently well underway.
