
After being named the new chair of the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) board, the former secretary of transportation has returned to the public sector.
According to a gazette notice published by President William Ruto on Friday, Kamau’s new position is effective today and will last for three years.
Lewis Nguyai, who had been in the position since February 2021 following his selection by the late President Uhuru Kenyatta, is replaced by Mr. Kamau. A former Kikuyu MP is Lewis Nguyai.
Julius Karangi, a former army commander, has been named by President Ruto as the board chair of the National Council for Population and Development (NCPD).
David Ngugi, a former Kinangop MP who was appointed in May 2021, is replaced by him. Karangi will hold office through July 20, 2024.
Elsewhere Walter Nyambati, a candidate for governor of Nyamira County, has been given a three (3) year appointment by President Ruto to serve as the board chair of the Geothermal Development Company.
