A police officer was accused of defiling a youngster who was in police custody after having been defiled elsewhere on Monday at an arraignment in a Narok court.

The 16-year-old was allegedly defiled on December 2, 2022, by Constable Anthony Leiteipa Nanyukie of the Sakutiek Police Station in Narok County.

The 50-year-old suspect entered a not-guilty plea when he was brought before Magistrate Samuel Mungai, claiming that he did not defile the youngster overnight as claimed.

The woman had been transported to the police station because she needed care and protection from the state when the assault happened, the court was told.

Because the accused is a parent and the primary provider for seven children, Charles Langat, the accused’s attorney, argued with the court to release his client on a cash bond of Ksh. 100,000.

Furthermore, Langat asked that his client be held at Sakutiek Police Station.

The prosecution requested that the defendant, who had committed the crime at the police station, not be permitted to return to the crime site because he would tamper with the evidence.

In order to determine whether or not Nanyukie will be freed on monetary bail, he will remain in detention until this Wednesday.

The victim is being treated while being admitted to a hospital in Narok.
