
On Thursday, November 24, 2022, the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs is scheduled to hold public hearings on petitions to remove four Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioners from their positions.
The petitions call for the resignation of Francis Wanderi, Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, and Justus Nyang’aya as IEBC Commissioners.
Petitioners have made a number of claims, such as flagrant disregard for the law, major violations of the Constitution, and incompetence.
The committee will hear a petition from the Republican Liberty Party on Thursday before questioning the group in cross-examination.
Rev. Dennis Ndwiga Nthumbi’s appeal will be heard, and his cross-examination will follow.
The Geoffrey Langat petition hearing will be followed by his cross-examination, which will be followed by Steve Owuor’s cross-examination on Friday.
On Monday, cross-examination of Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, and Francis Wanderi will take place. On Tuesday of the following week, cross-examination of Justus Nyang’aya and Justus Nyang’aya is scheduled.
