
A police officer attached to Nairobi County’s Embakasi precinct was arrested alongside two other suspects following a botched robbery attempt along Mama Ngina drive in Mombasa.
Police Constable Hellen Wanjiru Wameu, Marube Harrison Biko and Fredrick Gateri were apprehended two days after unsuccessfully attempting to rob a pedestrian on June 28, 2022.
During the date of incident, a police report seen by Citizen says, the suspects managed to evade police after fleeing the crime scene in a Mercedes Benz.
“NPS officers from Mombasa county, pursued them, and they managed to escape using a using a Mercedes Benz KDE 711Q, silver in colour, and on 30/07/2022 at around 2202hrs, the police officers, managed to arrest them,” reads the police report.
“Upon thorough search, a pair of hand cuffs COA belonging to PC Hellen Wanjiru Wameu was recovered. Also noted, was that the registration number of the vehicle has been changed to KCB 363R, instead of KDE 711Q.”
The vehicle has since been towed to Mombasa’s Central Police Station where the suspects are currently being held pending further action.
