Modern Coast Bus Crashes Into a River, Killing One And Injuring Several

A Modern Coast bus crashed into the Nyakomisaro River in Masosa, Kisii County, killing one passanger and injuring several others.

The bus, according to preliminary accounts, went off the road on Wednesday, December 28, before plunging into the river.

Confirming the event, Kisii Central police chief Amos Ambasa reported that one person died and those injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.

Locals and police officials raced to the spot to assist in the rescue effort.

According to preliminary reports, the bus was on its way to Tanzania from Mombasa when it lost control and crashed into the Kisii River.

The cause of the accident had not been determined at the time of publication.

The Nyakomisaro River incident occurred just months after the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) canceled the license of the Modern Coast bus service in the aftermath of the Nithi Bridge accident, which claimed the lives of over 33 people.
