
Police in Awendo sub-county have exhumed the body of an unidentified woman whose body was buried in a shallow grave within the Sony sugar company plantation, a few metres from Awendo town.
The body was discovered by casual workers who were on weeding duties on Thursday.
Samuel Onyango, who was in the company of other workers, said he discovered the grave after sensing a strong odour.
He then spotted the leg of the deceased.
Awendo sub-county police commander Mathias Pombo said officers are yet to identify the body, as it has started decomposing.
The body was moved to Rapcom Hospital mortuary pending identification, autopsy and police investigations.
Meanwhile, residents of have called on officers to deal with insecurity.
