The death of a 17-year-old teenager who drowned in the Migori River in the Masaba district on Friday night has been the subject of an investigation by police in Kuria West, Migori County.
Alex Ochieng’s body was discovered in the Migori River, according to Kuria West police chief Cleti Kimaiyo.
As per Mr. Kimaiyo, initial investigations showed that the deceased drowned in the Migori River while he was out swimming. He claimed that the deceased was with his brother when the incident happened.
The sub-county police commander stated that a police inquiry has been opened to determine what happened before to the drowning incident.
In anticipation of a police inquiry and autopsy, the body was taken to Ojele Memorial Hospital Mortuary.
To prevent such tragedies, Mr. Kimaiyo has pleaded with the parents to restrict their children from accessing the river.
