A youngster has been apprehended after allegedly killing a man in Marsabit town and fled.
The 19-year-old, who is suspected of murdering Muhammed Abdi Jaldesa in cold blood last Thursday, was apprehended by Marsabit-based detectives on Monday, December 26.
“Following a public tip-off, the suspect was flushed out of his hideout this morning and a blood stained knife believed to be the murder weapon recovered from him,” police said in a statement.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday to face murder charges.
His arrest comes just days after three suspected car theft syndicate members were apprehended in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The three were discovered to be in possession of a variety of items. weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, nine rounds of ammunition, nine arrows, and a jungle police uniform.
Ayub Ali, the Commander of the Uasin Gishu County Police, stated on Friday that the arrest was made as a result of intelligence reports from investigative agencies in collaboration with members of the public.
Ali speculated that the three were part of a car theft ring because fake license plates and log books were discovered in their home.
“One of the suspects had a fake police identification card which means these individuals impersonate police officers when committing crimes. “The court has given us 14 days to complete our investigation, and we will leave no stone unturned,” Nyale said at the time.
The syndicate targets a specific number of vehicles for theft while posing as police officers with ammunition, the serial numbers of which he claims have been tampered with.
