In an apartment in Juja Town, Kiambu County, a 39-year-old man committed suicide shortly after stabbing his 30-year-old girlfriend.
Daniel Mwangi allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab his lover in the back and the stomach, where she bled to death, according to Juja Sub-county Police Commander Phyllis Muthoni.
Mwangi proceeded to attempt suicide by slitting his throat, but Juja police officers intervened and transported him to Thika Level 5 Hospital, where he passed away.
Police spotted the body of the lady lying in a pool of blood with four stab wounds and it was brought to Thika’s General Kago Funeral home.
Police have initiated investigations to determine what caused the murder of the 30-year-old lady who was running an MPESA shop in Juja town, however it is thought that the two were fighting over infidelity at the time.
Muchangi Kioi, the head of the Kiambu County police department, recently expressed alarm over the county’s rising murder rate and requested the assistance of counselors in handling the cases.
