In Laikipia County, a multi-agency security squad has found four functioning homemade illegal guns.
As part of the ongoing “Operation Maliza Uhalifu North Rift,” the operation was conducted on March 29.
The surrounding communities were lauded by the National Police Service (NPS) for their assistance and cooperation, which resulted in the recovery of firearms.
An AK-47, an M-16, a G-3 rifle, and a Carabine MK-1 are among the weapons that were found.
Although the other three weapons were discovered at Latakweny Village in Samburu North Sub-County, the G-3 rifle was located at Amoler Location in Pokot Central Sub-County.
The security officers also seized 15 camels that were stolen by bandits at Sulubei Grazing Fields in addition to the illegal firearms. After being positively identified, the camels were returned to their owners.
The multi-agency security force has been conducting operations in the region to combat the rise in crime and insecurity.
