Police in Kisumu are detaining a man for impersonation after he was discovered on street patrol wearing a complete police outfit and handcuffs.
According to the authorities, the guy, named as Barack Otieno Bollo, was intimidating innocent bystanders.
He was allegedly on an extortion rampage as well.
However, suspicious bystanders surrounded him and attacked him with kicks and blows, drawing the attention of police who were out on patrol.
The guy, who pretended to be a police officer on patrol, was allegedly targeting sex workers along Marine Road.
The suspect, who had various head injuries, was admitted to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital under police surveillance.
Four teargas canisters and strapped pouches were among the additional items found.
