
Five teachers from Itumbe DOK Primary School in Kisii County have been suspended by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for allegedly forcing six Grade 2 students to do an indecent conduct.
The five teachers—Everlyne Moraa, Angelica Joseph, Catherine Mokaya, Moraa Nyairo, and William Isuka—were informed in letters that they had been suspended from their positions with immediate effect by the TSC.
Gladys Kenyanya, the sixth teacher, was sent a show-cause letter to justify why she should not be deregistered following the unsettling occurrence.
TSC claims that by disseminating the video clip, the six teachers violated clauses 9 (1) and (c) (11) of the Third Schedule of the TSC Act, 2012, as well as psychologically tormented and humiliated the youngsters.
A portion of the statement stated, “You instructed and/or pressured students of Itumbe DOK Primary School to indulge in on indecent/inappropriate activities representing homosexuality within the School compound. It is alleged that you violated clause (c) (11) of the Third Schedule of the TSC Act No. 20 Of 2012.
“You actively participated in, assisted with, or abetted the recording of a video footage of the minors who, under your coercion, were engaged in acts depicting homosexuality and circulated the same on social media, thus causing trauma, psychological/mental torture, and embarrassment to the minors,” the court wrote.

According to Mitei, “You are invited to make a defense statement or response to the Commission in writing within 21 days of the date of this letter; you will be given the opportunity to be heard by the Commission in person.
“Indicate the closest TSC Sub County office where you will have to report once a month; present any more evidence, such as documents in favor of your case; evacuate office and continue to remain absent. You can give your phone, email, and contact information in exchange for giving up your yearly leave.
Following a public outcry over the video, the six people who were being held at the Nyamache Police Station were taken into custody on Wednesday.
In the video, teachers force young boys wearing school uniforms to do an immoral deed while laying on top of one another while laughing aloud in the background.
