Kirinyaga County police have detained a 17-year-old girl for reportedly murdering her father at Ndindiruku community in Mwea East sub-county.

The incident occurred over the weekend, according to Mwea East sub-county police chief Daniel Kitavi, when the pupil refused to serve her father lunch since her mother was not present.

According to the police chief, the deceased, Justus Mutiso, arrived home at 10.30 p.m. drunk and began demanding food from the daughter, but she refused since her mother was attending a night church (Kesha).

Kitavi stated that following the commotion, the child chose to go look for her mother, who was 500 meters away at a church.

When her mother arrived, the guy was nicely served, but he was perplexed as to why her daughter refused to offer him food.

As a result, he assaulted her and was stabbed. Mutiso passed away while receiving treatment at the Kimbimbi sub-county hospital.

However, family have expressed conflicting opinions on the occurrence.

Mutiso’s grandmother, Veronicah Wanja, stated that this is not the first time the man has attacked his daughter, while Mutiso’s sister, Bancy Kanini, stated that the girl should have respected her father.

Location of Kiarukungu Chief Henry Kariuki stated that this is the first incidence in the region since he began working there. ‘We were able to recover the kitchen knife she used to murder her father,’ Kariuki explained.

The 17-year-old girl is being held at the Wang’uru police station until investigations are conducted. She will be arraigned at Wang’uru law court when the investigations are done.
