Kirinyaga: Police seize a truck carrying 1000 alcohol containers with allegedly fake stamps.

At Kagio, Kirinyaga County police officers seized an alcohol-transporting truck with what they believe to be fake stamps.

The alcohol bottles were placed in cartons and the vehicle, which was purportedly traveling from Embu to Nairobi, was towed to Kagio Police Station.

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) personnel from Nyeri were then summoned by the police, and they spent most of Friday evening searching through the lorry’s cargo.

Mathew Mang’ira, the police commander in charge of Kirinyaga, acknowledged the occurrence and said that the contents of the truck were later taken to Nyeri and put through additional inspection in order to ensure the veracity of the stamps and the security of the cargo.

According to reports, the truck was transporting roughly 1,000 cartons, each of which contained 20 bottles of alcohol with the label “Power.”

This comes after the government issued a harsh warning to businesses and people planning to avoid taxes.
