
On Thursday, a 28-year-old man drowned in the Nyamindi River in Kirinyaga County while having a birthday party with his wife and a friend.
According to reports, Kelvin Muthomi, a hotelier from Kimbimbi town, slipped and fell at the Nyamindi fall while his wife and a friend stood helplessly by.
Muthomi, a Kirinyaga employee who is from Meru County, had sought a day off from work to celebrate his birthday when the tragedy occurred, according to his coworker George Macharia.
He slipped and drowned, according to the villagers, who informed the police and the area assistant chief before alerting his Meru relatives.
Muthomi fell at roughly 4 p.m., according to Ngucui Assistant Chief George Mungai, who also confirmed the tragedy. His body has not yet been found.
Police and locals from Ngucui are still looking for the deceased’s body.
