Residents in Gichugu Constituency, Kirinyaga County, are in a state of grief after a man drowned while snapping photographs with his lover.
The man was snapping a picture with his lover when he tripped, fell over a waterfall, and was carried away. He was among those who had traveled from Nairobi to witness Gicheru Falls.
Ephantus Bundi, who was present when the event occurred, claims that the two were taking a selfie as others were standing around and observing.
Gichugu Sub-County Police Commander Edward Ndirangu confirmed the Wednesday evening incident and stated that six of the eight tourists to the fall were from Nairobi and two were from Kutus in Kirinyaga.
On Thursday morning, locals and friends gathered by the riverbank to assist with the search.
