Police in Kagio, Kirinyaga County are in pursuit of a bodaboda operator over a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a pupil.
Mwea West Sub County police boss Wilson Koskei said the incident happened along the Kagio-Kandongu road.
“The pupil was crossing the road before he was run over by the bodaboda operator,” Koskei told said.
The speeding motorcyclist fled immediately after the incident with efforts by locals to waylay him bearing no fruit.
Locals have urged the authorities to erect speed bumps in the area to avert such cases. On their part, police called on road users to be extra cautious. A manhunt is ongoing for the runaway suspect.
