Shock has engulfed Giting’a village in Ndia, Kirinyaga County, after a 50-year-old woman was hacked to death at her home by unknown people.
Leah Murage was found by her neighbours lying in a pool of blood at her main gate in the Wednesday 8pm incident.
The residents said they rushed to the scene to respond to her wails and rushed her to Kerugoya Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
“She might have been stabbed by a sharp object like a kitchen knife over five times,” Kariuki, one of her neighbours, said.
Ms. Murage’s sister said the deceased lived alone in her house and her two children are university students.
Confirming the incident, Ndia Sub-county police commander, David Kabena, said police have launched an investigation to establish who killed her.
“Her body is in Kerugoya Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem,” Mr. Kabena said.
