
Yesterday, a 23-year-old lady was accused of selling narcotics on the premises of the Thika law courts in Kiambu County.
Martha Muthoni Muhindi pleaded with the court to pardon her when she appeared before Chief Magistrate Stella Atambo, but she was sent to Thika Main Prison for two weeks as the court awaits a narcotics report from the government chemist.
According to the charge sheet, Muthoni was arrested on September 7 while selling defendants taken to Thika law courts from various cells and prisons 20 rolls of marijuana worth Ksh. 2000.
She was then charged with the offence of trafficking narcotic drugs contrary to section 4(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act No. 4 of 2022.
When the accused addressed the court and begged for forgiveness, Chief Magistrate Atambo was surprised.
On October 9, Muthoni will be taken back to the same court for sentencing.
