
An unidentified assailant shot and killed a businessman in Thika outside his home in Kimathi Estate on Thursday evening.
According to Thika Police Commander Daniel Kinyua, who confirmed the event, James Mwangi was attacked by a group of two armed individuals who came up to him as he was getting out of his car and started shooting.
During the 7:30pm incident, Mwangi, a 47-year-old car trader in Thika Town, was shot twice at close range, once in the chest and once in the leg. The attackers then escaped on a waiting motorcycle.
The businessman was then taken to a local hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
