
A man thought to be responsible for the murder of a student at Karatina University has been taken into custody by police in Nandi County.
Ezra Kipkemei, 29, was detained at the Kibwareng health facility where he had gone to get medication days after reportedly going into hiding.
According to Nandi South OCPD John Owuoth, who confirmed the arrest, police were alerted to the suspect’s presence at the mentioned facility by a member of the public.
“We took quick action by dispatching our police to the facility, and we were able to capture him. According to Mr. Owuoth, he is currently being processed for transfer to Nakuru, where he is accused of committing the crime.
Phyllis Jepleting, a Math and Biology student at Karatina University, was discovered dead in a home that is believed to be the suspect’s in the Naka estate.
The deceased’s body underwent an autopsy, which determined that she had been strangled to death.
