Kakamega: Three Suspects Arrested And Police Officer’s Stolen Gun Recovered

In Kakamega, three suspected thugs have been detained, and a stolen gun has been found as police officers step up their efforts to reduce insecurity around the nation.

Joseph Maina, age 22, Dennis Githae, age 25, and Stanley Githae, age 20, were apprehended in a residence in the Mukumu neighborhood of the Khayega location, Shinyalu sub-County.

The raid was carried out by detectives from Western’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), which resulted in the capture of the suspects and the discovery of a weapon with 15 rounds of ammo allegedly stolen from a police officer.

The DCI reported that three suspects who were holed up at a home in Mukumu, Khayega, had a Ceska pistol loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

In addition to other electrical devices and cookware that is being stored as exhibits, the directorate listed some of the seized items as computers, smartphones, television sets, and home theaters.

“The recovered firearm shall be submitted to the DCI National Forensic Laboratory’s Ballistics section for investigation and further analysis on its involvement in prior scenes of armed attacks,” stated the DCI.

The arrests follow the capture of an additional 14 members of the notorious group Mbogi la Izraim Territory, suspected of terrorizing Kakamega locals.
