Jackton Odhiambo Pleads Not Guilty In Edwin Chiloba’s Murder

Jacktone Odhiambo, the main suspect in the murder of Edwin Kiprotich Kiptoo alias Chiloba, LGBTQ activist and model , has entered a not-guilty plea.

In his appearance before Eldoret High Court Judge Reuben Nyakundi, Odhiambo denied murdering Chiloba between December 31, 2022, and January 3, 2023 in the Chebisaas area of Moiben, Uasin Gishu county.

When the judge asked Odhiambo to respond to the accusations, he said, “I never murdered him.

Odhiambo is represented by attorney Mathai Maina, and the family of Chiloba is represented by attorney Mitullah Gilbert.

The judge ruled that the matter would be heard on February 16 in order to discuss providing all relevant papers to the parties.

The court mandated last week that Odhiambo undergo a mental assessment at MTRH before pleading on Wednesday.

The interim holding of Odhiambo at the Eldoret GK Prison had been ordered by Deputy Registrar Rosemary Onkoba.

Investigations tied Odhiambo to the gruesome killing of the fashion model, and the lower courts determined that he had a case to answer.

After evidence established that four additional suspects, three of whom were minors, had no connection to Chiloba’s murder, the court released the suspects.

But for the duration of three months, the three minors must appear at the DCI offices in Eldoret South once a month to provide additional statements.
