In what is believed to have been a land dispute involving the polygamous family, three children were burned to death on Tuesday night inside their father’s home in Kangundo, Machakos County.
The father and one of his two wife have reportedly been at odds, and he has been pressuring her to leave the homestead, according to the neighbors.
Last Saturday, the family allegedly met and the woman was given notice to leave. According to reports, the woman was forcibly evicted by the husband, who also threatened to destroy her home.
Locals apparently criticized the man to the point when three of his homes—including the one where his younger children were sleeping—were set on fire by unidentified assailants.
Investigations are ongoing, according to Kangundo OCPD Zacharia Bitok, who confirmed the occurrence, and the three victims’ remains have been taken to the morgue at Kangundo Hospital.
