A Nyahururu Elite Secondary School student has gone missing while mountaineering at Mount Longonot in Nakuru County.
According to Mr. Simon Gacheru Macharia, the school’s principal, 26 Form Four students and ten teachers joined a group of roughly 70 people on the hike.
Two hours into the trip, one of the kids, Enock Balemba, 17, felt restless and told one of his classmates that he couldn’t continue. The school captain chose to sit and remain behind.
“Suddenly, he stood up and rushed into the thickets, where he vanished.” “The other students raised the alarm and informed their teacher,” the principal reported.
The teachers subsequently decided to report the incident to the Longonot KWS camp, where KWS officers joined the search squad and searched until 8 p.m., but the student could not be found.
The search was halted for a time, but resumed on Friday.
