Veteran actor Gibson Gathu Mbugua, best known for his portrayal of a prosecutor in the Vioja Mahakamani drama, has passed away.
The ‘prosecutor’s’ death was verified on Tuesday by the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
The family of the renowned actor revealed that his kidneys had failed in 2021 after the actor had been suffering from diabetes for more than 20 years.
The family made a plea to Kenyans to donate money toward the kidney transplant Gathu would need.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta donated Ksh 2 million to pay the hospital cost at a significant fundraising in June 2022.
Gathu informed his followers that the kidney transplant had been successful and that he has since been released in August 2022.
“I was admitted to the hospital on July 18, 2022, and I was released on August 3, 2022. I feel fantastic,” he declared.
