Former Kenya Power MD Ken Tarus Fraud Case Withdrawn

Due to a lack of evidence connecting the former Kenya Power MD Dr. Ken Tarus to the case, Kenya’s anti-corruption court permitted the Director of Public Prosecutions to drop the prosecution.

Trial Magistrate Elizabeth Juma acquitted Tarus after stating that the court could not force the ODPP to pursue the case further or order the court to do so.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, has said he will move on with the case against eight additional officials who are accused of granting contracts to businesses that led to the unlawful payment of Ksh. 159 million.

Eight other individuals, including the general manager of networks Daniel Tare, the general manager of supply chain Daniel Muga, and the former finance manager Harun Karisa, have also been charged in addition to Tarus.

Benard Muturi, Evelyne Amondi, Noah Omondi, John Njehia, and James Muriuki were additional members of the tender committee.
