Fire Breaks Out At Pumwani Maternity Hospital

An undetermined amount of property was lost Friday morning after a fire started at the Nairobi Pumwani Maternity Hospital.

According to a statement from the Nairobi County Government, the incident started at the drug and grocery store at 3:30 am.

The Nairobi City County fire and rescue services team, which came quickly after the event, managed to extinguish the fire.

No casualties were recorded from the incident, according to County Executive for Health Anastacia Nyalita.

In a record-breaking 10 minutes, the Nairobi City County fire department and the rescue team arrived and extinguished the fire. There were no casualties, She said.

A team from Nairobi County, working with the police, is evaluating the damage as the reason of the fire’s origin is still being ascertained, according to Ms. Nyalita.

Around five in the morning, the hospital’s regular business hours were restored.
