Eliud Kipchoge Wins Record 5th Berlin Marathon ‘Indefatigable’ Title

Eliud Kipchoge, an Olympic champion, won the 2023 Berlin Marathon on Sunday afternoon.

The world record holder beat the great Haile Gebrselassie’s record of four victories at the Berlin capital with a time of 2:02:42, retaining his title and increasing his total number of Berlin Marathon victories to a record five.

Ethiopian Tadese Takele, another newcomer, finished third behind debutant Vincent Kipkemboi.

Tigist Assefa of Ethiopia broke the women’s marathon record on Sunday in Berlin by winning in a time of 2:11:53, more than two minutes faster than the previous record.
