The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has nominated William Kisang as its contender for the Elgeyo Marakwet Senate seat.
Kisang was given a certificate of nomination to run for the position in the forthcoming by-election, which will take place on January 5, 2023.
In the party primaries held on November 26th, the former Marakwet West MP received 28,136 votes.
Kisang will run for the Senate seat that became open when Kipchumba Murkomen was named Cabinet Secretary for roads, transportation, and infrastructure by President William Ruto.
Murkomen later praised Kisang for winning the election following a hard-fought, heated, and colourful campaign.
“Congratulations, Hon. William Kisang, on being chosen as the UDA’s representative in the impending senatorial by-elections in Elgeyo Marakwet County. Congratulations to all the other candidates as well, who gave excellent performances and fought valiantly, he stated in a tweet.
The CS said, “Let’s now move forward as one indivisible family, understanding that competition strengthens us individually while preparing us for service in our varied capacities and different duty stations.
