Deputy Governor William Oduol’s impeachment report set to be presented by the Siaya Assembly Committee.

The Siaya County Assembly will decide this afternoon whether or not to impeach Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol.

Today in the afternoon, the County Assembly’s special committee, which was formed to look into the reasons behind the impeachment motion put forth by East Asembo Ward MCA Gordon Onguru, is set to give its findings.

The committee, which is presided over by Yimbo East Ward MCA Francis Otiato, had been given ten days to look into the grounds for impeachment and provide its report by today, June 8, 2023.

The committee gathered public opinions over the course of the ten-day period before giving Mr. Oduol the opportunity to respond to the accusations made against him.

Mr. Onguru has charged the deputy governor with explicit misconduct of power, disregard for the law, and serious infractions of the constitution and other laws.

Oduol, however, refuted the accusations during his appearance before the County Assembly’s special committee on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, which lasted for more than ten hours.
