Days before the start of her national examination, a 19-year-old KCSE candidate passed away at the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital.
Even though Velma Anita Ochieng’s due date was scheduled for December 7th, she was admitted to the hospital on November 26th with labor-related symptoms.
According to Peter Ogolla, CEO of the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital, Velma was put on bed rest with the expectation that she would deliver naturally. A doctor checked on her every four hours.
The mother and daughter were both wheeled back to the ward after the procedure, according to hospital management, who stated that she was taken into the operating room around 2:30 am.
