Kevin Ochieng Onyango, a cyber café operator who was caught fabricating police clearance documents at the Obama estate in Njiru Sub-county, has been arrested by police in Njiru.
On January 14, 2023, the forgery suspect was charged with fabricating a police clearance certificate for John Waithaka with the aim to deceive him. He was arraigned before the Madaraka court.
When Waithaka went to inquire for assistance on how to get the certificate, the cyber operator reportedly said that he could help him get it for a fair fee.
When his prospective client went to the Obama police station shortly after placing a deposit for the certificate, Onyango’s fraud was made clear.
He reportedly asked the authorities if he could get a certificate of good conduct without submitting his fingerprints.
He revealed the arrangement he had earlier made with the owner of the cyber café after authorities at the station told him it was impossible.
When the cyber café was seized by police investigating the case, they discovered that the suspect had already created two copies of the certificate.
The PC he was using to create the documents was then seized after his detention.
The suspect was released on a Ksh. 50,000 cash bond after contesting the accusations before senior magistrate Mercy Maligu.
