The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has suspended Ezra Chiloba in his capacity as director general.
In a memo sent internally on Monday night, authority chair Mary Mungai announced Chiloba’s suspension.
Mr. Christopher Wambua has been named the acting director general in Chiloba’s place beginning today and continuing until further notice.
Part of the memo reads, “I am pleased to inform all staff of the appointment of Mr. Christopher Wambua as a Director General in Acting Capacity effective today until further notice. This appointment follows a meeting of the Authority’s Board held on September 18, 2023, which resulted in the suspension of the Director General.
The cause of Chiloba’s suspension was not made public immediately.
Chiloba, who had held the position of CEO of the IEBC, was named Director General of the CA in September 2021. His term in office would have been renewed for another four years.
