Busia: 3 Students Hospitalized After Falling Into School Borehole

Three students from Our Lady of Mercy Girls Secondary School in Busia are hospitalized after falling into a borehole at the institution.

Deputy Principal Elizabeth Ngaji said the three were standing atop the borehole before it caved in. The students were rescued and rushed to hospital.

“The students were taken to a private hospital in Bulanda, in the outskirts of Busia town,” said.

Busia Deputy County Commissioner Kipchumba Ruto hailed the school administration for the swift response that saw the girls rescued by teachers and the support staff.

“We are glad that the school administration responded in good time. I would however like to urge all schools to maintain high standards of safety in their premises to avoid accidents of this nature,” Ruto noted.
