On Wednesday, President William Ruto welcomed American businessman Bill Gates to State House in Nairobi for talks.
In a press conference that followed the meeting, President Ruto praised the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which is co-chaired by the billionaire owner of Microsoft, for their assistance to Kenya in a number of sectors, including healthcare and agriculture.
“Host the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation co-chair at the State House in Nairobi. We value the assistance the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation continues to provide Kenya in achieving its development objectives, particularly in the fields of healthcare, agriculture, and ICT, the Head of State wrote.
We will keep working together to ensure that our nation has both universal health coverage and food security.
On Tuesday, Bill Gates flew into Kenya for a number of engagements. He began his trip in Makueni County, where he met Governor Mutula Kilonzo.
He first went to the Makueni Mother & Child Hospital before going to the Kathonzweni Level 3 Hospital, where he met with volunteers for community health and members of the medical staff.
Gates is scheduled to give a speech on November 17 about innovating for food security and addressing climate change in Africa. The University of Nairobi will stream the event live.
