A priest has been detained for reportedly defiling and killing a 10-year-old girl in Kamuombo village, Rangwe sub-county, Homa Bay, two weeks ago.
At his hiding place in Suna East, Migori County, the priest was found.
The culprit, who was dressed in church clothing, was apprehended after members of the public provided the police with a tip, according to Migori police Commander Mark Wanjala.
According to Wanjala, the culprit has been evading capture for two weeks and has sought refuge at a local church.
He claimed that Homa Bay criminal investigation officials, who are now in charge of the matter, have been given the suspect.
According to the police, the priest killed and defiled the girl in a nearby maize plantation. He reportedly arrived to the area to provide help to a local family.
