The body of Hellen Wendy expected to arrive today for burial.

Hellen Wendy, a Kenyan nurse who died while swimming on August 18, 2022, will arrive today for burial on Monday.

Hellen will be laid to rest on Monday at her parents’ Kisii County home.

Wendy’s body is scheduled to arrive in Nairobi on Saturday afternoon aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight.

This week, members of her family paid a visit to the swimming pool where she drowned.

Wendy’s mother and father, John Kiyondi Nyabuto, placed flowers at the pool’s edge.

Wendy’s father previously stated that the family wished for Hellen’s body to be returned to Kenya for burial in accordance with local customs.

“Our tradition holds that one should be buried where he or she was born.” “I won’t be at ease psychologically if my daughter is buried outside of Kenya,” he said.

He also recalled crying after seeing a video of his daughter drowning.

“I saw that video. I sobbed. It’s dreadful. She last spoke to me two days before she died. She sounded great, and I was overjoyed. She promised to give me a phone. “I didn’t feel anything out of the ordinary,” he said.

Nyabuto stated that her daughter was their breadwinner and that it will be difficult to move on from her death.

Wendy’s five siblings, according to Enock, have been forced to restart their lives after their sister’s death.

“She has lived in Canada for approximately three years. She bore the entire financial burden (of their Kenyan family). Back to the beginning.”
