KDF Might On Display At Madaraka Day Celebrations

The Kenya Defence Forces wowed the nation during Wednesday’s Madaraka Day celebration with a spectacular albeit rare show of its military might.

Shortly after President Uhuru Kenyatta ascended the Presidential dais to inspect the Guard of Honour, there was the National Anthem and the East African Community Anthem.

Then came KDF. From the Border Patrol Unit with their armoured vehicles to the Engineers Brigade who showcased their water hole drilling machines, excavators and bulldozers, Kenyans were in for a treat.

Some of the military weapons exhibited include armoured personnel carriers and 81mm mortars by the Infantry, machine guns from the army Special Operations Brigade.

KDF’s Armoured Brigade also displayed their reconnaissance vehicles and main battle tanks, while their counterparts in the Artillery brigade treated Kenyans to a display of their weapons, all moving in their arrowhead configuration.

The Kenya Navy also gave a rare glimpse into their world, albeit on land, of their military boats atop flatbed trailers.

On the other hand, the Air Force brought their Grob, Harbin Y-12, PZL M28 Skytruck, Dash 8, and Alenia C-27J Spartan aircraft, among others.
